Cool Front Catalysts For Hot Fishing!

Castaway Lodge Seadrift Report
By Capt. Kris Kelley

Sponsored by: Mercury Marine; Air Ranger Airboats; Haynie Bay Boats; Baysport Marine Victoria; Coastline Trailers; JL Marine; CorrosionX; Pure Fishing; and, Bob's Machine Shop.

Chilly with hot rod bending working fish on falling water.  The last cold front pushed some water out of the bays and that had solid Trout and Redfish caught in the catalyst.  The past week welcomed Corporate groups and Employee Appreciation venues.  The cool snap was a welcome event with guests "bundling up to bow up".  Follow us on Facebook and Instagram.

Customer Feedback

We love hearing from our guests and this company is taking advantage of a jewel in their own back yard! Here's what Safety Superviser Mr. Tom J. had to say:

Kris,

Thanks so much for hosting our Leadership Team fishing event.....the lodge and sleeping accommodations were modern, very well appointed, comfortable, and clean. The “Hand cut” sirloin steaks and all the fixins were absolutely delicious and if anyone went hungry it was their own damn fault.

The guides put us on the fish and we caught a ton....for the most part it was a fish on every cast and it was AWESOME!!!! It was very impressive to see the sheer number of trout and redfish that we caught that were just slightly undersize. Proof that the fishery in Seadrift is thriving and should only get better over time.

It was great getting to know you and we truly appreciated you taking the time and effort to provide our group with a world class fishing experience.....Keep up the great work and you can definitely expect us to book more trips in the future.

Definitely exceeded my expectations....

Sincerely,

Airboat Redfishing Trips - Winter/Spring Primetime

Capt. Chris Cady and Capt. James Cunningham put in a great trip on elevated tides with guests of Prime Controls.  As water levels pull back, we'll be looking for concentrated schools of Redfish and Black Drum swarming over mud pockets.  These are some heavy fish boxes and a lot of fun. Check out our Photo Gallery.

On The Horizon - Waterfowl Report

We're putting a fresh look on our blinds ahead of the opener.  Ducks, ducks, and more ducks are piling in on each successive cold front.  Capt. Jeff Larson is inbound from a trip up to South Dakota and mentioned it had been minus 18 degrees warming up to near 5 degrees in the morning.  The migration is in full swing and I'm betting on a cold Winter season this year!  Come see us!
