ADD YOUR COMMENTS BELOW, WE LOVE HEARING FROM YOU!
Our second trip with Capt. Doug Russell of Castaway Lodge was just as fun as the first trip. We hit our limit on redfish and went for the trout. Doug is such a great guide! He is polite and knows where to find the fish. Even though this time we didn't stay at the lodge, we still had a great trip. We sure missed the hospitality and great food at the lodge. But, the trip was still a wonderful experience. We would recommend Castaway Lodge to anyone who loves to fish. Thanks again for a great time, and we look forward to our next trip.

The guys from Shiner had a rough trip the first time, one keeper, two boats, eight guys. Not what we had in mind for a fishing trip, but due to things out of our control, things happen. Much to my suprise we had a call from Kris Kelley to come back at his exspense and try it agian. To me that was a nobrainer, lets do it!
Not all of the first group were able to go on the "free trip" that Kris had offered, but let me tell you, it was great. Capt. James is an outstanding guide, he put us on fish all day.
Thank you Kris, I'll be back.

Kris,

Kenny and I made it home safe (last time I drive that far, put me on a plane). Once again, I had a great time. The hunting was awesome! You cant ask for anything more, when a 'slow day' means it takes an extra half hour to limit out. Wendi's cooking sure hit the spot after a day on the water. The new lodge provides a nice friendly, comfortable atmosphere. I may not of said it when I was there but, thanks for getting us on those hogs, it is appreciated.

I have hunted the Louisiana coast my whole life and I am always the one that runs the trolling motor and nets the fish and does the duck calling when I hunt or fish. I just want to say even if you have your own place you really owe it to yourself to come down and spend some time with Ms. Wendi and Double K; from the most experienced to the newby YOU WILL ENJOY your stay; period. P.S. bring you appetite and yes Kris we will see you next year. Why not let them take care of everything and they love doing it believe me it really shows. Thanks James for more great memories with my dad.

Dear Kris and Wendi:

Dear Kris & Wendi:

Trent and I had a blast on the GATOR hunt. An 11' 400 lb gator is nothing to sniff at and I know we'll be happy with the mount and skin. You run a first rate outfit. I enjoyed the fellowship and the fine chow. Tell Jake & Jack they need their own reality TV show. Jake is a whopper of a man & Jack has a lot of huevos to stick his hands so close to the gators choppers.

The Drum & Red fish never made it to the freezer. Best fish I've ever eating and less than 8 hours from sea to the bread basket.

Kris and Wendy,
I can't even put into words what a fantastic time I had on our team building fishing trip to Castaway Lodge! But let me try...

The hospitality was phenomenal! This was my first time visiting, but it felt like home. Kris and Wendy welcomed us from the get go. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. The meals were amazing!!!! I am not much of a meat eater, but let me tell you about Kris's pork chops!!!! They were seasoned to the T and served with complementary sauces and sides. The meals and hospitality alone were worth the stay! Kris grills steaks as requested too! He took orders for atleast 10 people ranging from rare to medium well and grilled them all to perfection. Wendy's side items were perfect compliments to our meals and here presentation and choice of condiments will cover anybody's cravings. She made very entertaining nightshift company as well : )

The fishing experience was amazing!!! It really is the country club of fishing experiences. We took off at sunrise and Capt Doug knew all of the good spots to visit. For the inexperienced fisherwomen, like myself, Capt Doug was there to bait my hook (with premium bait), cast my line to the perfect little nook and nab my fish once I pulled him in. For those that want to cast, bait and net their own fish that option is there, but for me it was an enhancement to the whole experience to have everything provided.

Not only did we catch alot of fish, but once we were back to shore Capt Kris and Capt Doug unloaded and filleted our fish right there at the dock!!

We have a huge bag of fish for each person on the boat and a whole lot of wonderful memories to boot. We love y'all at Castaway Lodge! Thank you sooo much for such a wonderful time! We will be telling people about my experience for years to come! I hope to visit again soon. Maybe gator hunting next time? : )

Kris and Wendi,

I want to tell you that you are excellent hosts and that the lodge is execellent.

I really enjoyed the fishing excursion on June 29, and for the guidance that Kris provided. Catching the 25.5 inch Trout was definiting a treasurable moment in my life. I have never had that experince on light tackle.

I highly recommend Castaway lodge and Captain Kris, Wendi for the excellent meal.

Hats off to you all!

Kris, Wanted to share with everyone the great memories you provided. It was a mom and daughter weekend to remember. Thank you for all the fun, great food, experience and most of all your amazing patience. I don't know how you drew the short straw to have two women, but you gave us an amazing experience.

Kris and Wendy,
Thanks for an awesome weekend! My dad, brother, and I really enjoyed ourselves. Dinner was superb on Fri night (cookies were delicious), the accomodations were clean and super-comfy, and of course the fishing on saturday was excellent. I'm real glad we made it down there and we can't wait to line up another trip.

Regards,

Kris, I finally got around to mounting the redheads and pintails from our trip and they were in excellant condition. It was great being able to pick out the biggest sprigs from the decoying groups. If my clients want a trophy redhead or pintail I send them your way! Thanks again - Matt Smith, Bird Taxidermist

Kris, thanks again, Mark and Trish had a blast, just being on the water. James did a great job not just with the fish, laughing and joking, and of course giving me a hard time for missing fish. He made the trip really enjoyable for everyone. You’ve got a great business going for you and Wendi along with your family of Guides. Hope to see you soon, I know Mark and Trish will be return customers.

Kris,

Thank you for calling to check on us. Eric was home by about 10PM last night and I made it home about 1PM today. It was well worth the 600 miles each way to get to fish with you. We had a wonderful time - the fishing was great, the accommodations were excellent, and the food was outstanding. No doubt, we'll be looking to come back soon.

Thanks Again,

Mel

I can't tell you how much the guys enjoyed the Norm Invitational.
The wind kicked our ass, but we did catch some fish. You have the best guides. I believe Steve would have stayed out all day if we
wanted him to. I am so glad my brother got to fish with you. This was his first trip and you guys caught some nice fish. You always make us feel right at home at the lodge and I think I gained a pound or two from the Smoked Ribs that were out of this world.
Looking forward to the next trip and guitar picking.

Man what a day! The only problem was it was over too fast. Thank you both for your kindness and all your help. All the time I spend with sons is great but to spend it with good people also, makes it priceless. Have a great day!

Double K, thank you for the kind note. It has been a rough couple of weeks, but we are all hanging tough. Unfortanely, you don't always realize how important those memories are until they're all you've got. Thanks to you, my Dad started fishing again and we were able to enjoy a ton of great times with Grizwald. He loved and cherished the time we spent with you and Wendy, especially at the lodge. And for that, we will always be grateful. Nobody was expecting him to go so soon. I wanted to share this with you, as I was putting together pictures we had of him for the memorial service, 60% of the good ones were from our trips with you. Tim, Joey and I hope to get down and fish with you sometme this summer. Take care,

Matt

Two friends and I headed down to Seadrift to take advantage of the February Special at the Castaway Lodge. The Lodge did not disappoint. The food and the lodging was great as was the fishing. We landed 9 reds between the three of us even though the conditions were far from perfect. Headed back to the lodge for a nice send off meal. If you get a chance I highly recommend Kris and Wendi Kelly and the Castaway Lodge.

Hey Kris! Thanks again for the great fishing trip and EXTREME patience you had helping us get our limit. You are truly a professional and know how to produce even when the fish aren't biting and the conditions are all wrong. This sister's trip will always be a wonderful memory.

Kris/Wendi; great fun again. I think we have a new fishing partner. Melinda can't quit talking about the trip and asking everyone to raise their hands that caught a fish before 8:00 am. Of course she is the one raising her hand. Thanks again for great fun and fellowship. See you in the spring.
Can you please email me a picture of Melinda with her fish?

thanks Ron

Had to leave Trinity to stomp on some new ground, My son Sterling, his buddy Willie and I fished Saturday and Sunday out of Seadrift with Castaway Lodge. Our guide Steve worked his tail off looking for fish both days but the front that blew in Saturday really effected the bite. Saturday we managed to catch about 25 small trout maybe three keepers, Sunday we went to find reds and we managed to find them with several over the slot, but these fish were really not eating and had to be really be worked over to get a hit. Color really did not seem to matter we took fish on just about any color lure we threw but never got enough bites to set a pattern. All in all it was a good trip and i would do it again.
