Castaway Lodge Seadrift Report

Trout window is wide open from boat fishing to wading with fishing ranging to 27".  Redfish have been spotty and then Capt. Chris Cady took the "spotty" out of the equation when he stumbled into huge schools of both Redfish and Black Drum positioned on a very shallow sand flat.  He said it was crazy crazy with doubles and triples for Joe G. and his son Landon fishing on board the airboat.  Capt. James Cunningham and Eastep along with Capt. Donnie Heath had a trip interrupted by severed storms about noon time but managed to take some solid Trout and a few Redfish for the effort.  JC said there just wasn't much tide movement and the approaching storms seemed to have the bait shut down.  Guests of Frank's Paving from San Antonio sure hit it right though fishing with us over 3 days.  Luis and Ronnie elected to stay for a 3rd day because the action was just too good.  It's always fun having them down, great guys.  Working Trout boatfishing, Capt. Chris found them tightly schooled in several locations.

As we head into June, we'll be looking for the fish to push toward deeper shell venues with shorelines hot early then slowing up a bit.  All that is dependent on the wind and how the bay is holding up.  More turbidity will push them toward the shorelines and shallower mud/grass bays.  All in all, it's shaping up to be another great Trout year.

Flounder Gigging
We're coming into prime time on the shallow shorelines for Flounder and the night time temperatures offer an awesome experience sticking solid flatfish.  Add that on to your trip for a memorable experience.  Come see us!
