Seadrift Riviera: Surf City Solids

Castaway Lodge Seadrift Report
By Capt. Kris Kelley

Sponsored by: MercuryMarine; Air Ranger Airboats; Haynie Bay Boats; Baysport Marine Victoria; Castaway Rods; JL Marine; Pure Fishing; Corrosion X; and, Bob's MachineShop.

The surf lit up as slack and northerly wind directions laid it to glass.  Early morning squalls made the run a bit dicey but timing is everything in the surf and nobody plays the weather game better than we do.  WNW at 3 on Thursday was followed Friday's light north winds and we managed to get a solid two day run taking Trout to 28" along the way. Anything but wade fishing turned sour mid week as the winds backed down and the bite flat-lined.  We're back in the bays today and it's not looking real good but I'm still waiting on the wade fishing report to see if it's any better.

Flounder Gigging

We're sticking solid Flounder with guests taking in bay fishing followed by night gigging trips.  Guests managed their limit last night sticking a couple of real nice fish along the way.

New Lodge Facilities

The new focal point at the lodge is the massive new indoor dining/conference building capable of seating 40 guests and then there's the Bayou Complex.  We've grown from a half acre footprint to 3.5 acres and 700' of water frontage on Haley's Bayou; lighted pavilions and horseshoe pits; Hill Country Flagstone Bayou Fireplace; a massive family room for cards & dominos or kicking back and relaxing; full size beds for couples; accommodations for 40 guests rich with Texas hospitality in a "Coastal Casual" atmosphere that our guests have come to know and love; and, the best staff and guides in the business.
