Backs N Tails, Heating Up The Drag

Castaway Lodge Seadrift Report
By Capt. Kris Kelley

Back Lakes Beat

Grass growth is playing catch up making for some pin point approaches targeting mud pockets and sparse areas of shorelines. Capt. Chris Cady reported no shortage of fish working the shallows over mud/grass. The bite has been hit and miss over the moon cycle but bigger winds pushing late into the morning have helped clients take full to near limits airboat redfishing.

Black Drum have not been cooperative and there is no mixing of Redfish and Drum at present. This is not uncommon but we'd sure like to see the Silver Tails start burning up the drags again.

Heading Into July

We'll be working targeted structure as indicated above and focusing less on visually looking for, or actually seeing fish. Tell tail wakes and mud stirs are nice but they won't get you too far into the numbers at this time.
